Open up Windows device manager, I bet that you do not see the 'FlexControl USB Control Knob' listed, so look for Unknown USB device, further down. Now do a right click on this unknown device, 'Update' driver = Browse Computer = you want to browse to the c: program files (x86) FlexRadio systems PowerSDR v 2.1.5 FlexControl 64 or 32. However, sometimes the USB port does not get turned back on when it is needed or is inadvertently turned off. For USB devices such as the FLEX-1500 and the FlexControl, powering down the USB port causes the devices to disconnect and possibly not reconnect properly, resulting in errors or an inoperable device.

You did not mention what OS, but there are five drivers that have to be originally installed, so you do need to give enough time for all the drivers to completely install, and in the case of XP you have to manually install all five. Once the original set of drivers have been loaded, then each time you move the radio to a new USB port, 4 drivers are installed, it is good to wait for the 'Your new HW has been installed and ready to use' message. I would suggest turning the radio off, move the radio to another direct USB port, turn the radio back on and wait for the 'ready' message .
